The ECS and Digestion
The endocannabinoid system regulates the gastrointestinal tract in significant ways. When CB1 receptors get overactive, the permeability of the digestive tract lining is increased.
When something like this occurs, by-products of metabolism that regularly would move through the digestive tract can instead be absorbed by the stomach lining and influence the brain in doing so, causing unwanted symptoms. The endocannabinoid system is indispensable in relation to antispasmodic movements of the body, particularly in the muscles that control digestion.
